For many, volunteering means lending a hand, sharing time and expertise, talking with a patient or simply being a friend.

Over 200 volunteers at Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll share a stong sense of commitment and admiration.  They all have the desire to give back to their  community and help provide quality patient care.  They contribute their unique talents, skills and provide support and attention to our patients and visitors.

Volunteer Services is committed to working closely with the staff and volunteers to develop rewarding assignments that will enhance the patient and visitor experience at Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll.

As a volunteer, you are a representative of Alexandra Hospital, we ask that you adhere to the same high professional standards expected from our team.  This includes:

• You maintain a high degree of patient confidentiality and privacy.  What you learn at the hospital, stays at the hospital.
• You wear your volunteer uniform and identification badge.
• You provide two references.
• You sign in and out of the Volunteer database.

In return, we offer a variety of rewards, in addition to knowing and appreciating the time you have given selflessly to help out another person.

• Free beverage while on volunteer duty.
• Free uniform and identification badge.
• Free Tuberculosis test, health screening and annual flu shot.
• Free dinner at the annual Appreciation Banquet.
• Participation in hospital activities and special events.

Volunteers provide service in more than 18 areas within the hospital in shifts generally ranging from 2 to 4 hours each.  Some volunteers give a few hours a month; some give a few hours a week and some a few hours a day. 

More than 200 volunteers provide service to our patients, visitors and staff every year, but there is always room for another caring heart!

We are currently seeking volunteers to assist with: 

• The Leisure Recreation Program (10:30 am - 12:00 pm) 
• Providing TV Services to the patients
• Providing assistance at the Information Desk 
• Working in the Gift Shop 
• Friendly Visiting
• Physiotherapy
