Position Summary

  • Act as second line support for user application problems, with a key focus on clinical applications or applications used extensively by clinicians, and exhibit problem ownership.
  • Provide application implementation and project management leadership and support to application project teams as required.
  • Provide education, guidance and ensure staff adherence to System/Network usage and security policies.
  • Maintain a visible presence in clinical areas to ensure support is provided in a timely and efficient fashion.
  • Lead the Cerner Subject Matter Expert (SME)/Local ePractice teams, supporting them with application implementation, software changes and modifications, and coaching departmental process changes brought about by the applications, and helping them evolve into the first line peer support group.
  • Train and lead the clinical team members by developing any necessary curriculum and performing Train-the Trainer sessions for computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office) used throughout the hospital, and helping them evolve into a first line peer support group.
  • Establish the training calendar, and co-ordinate training initiatives with the appropriate SME/ePractice staff members for broad application roll-outs, whether they be departmental in nature, or hospital-wide.
  • Help to orient new system users, or constructively delegate the tasks to the appropriate SME/ePractice staff member.
  • Act as Integration Architect and, in the absence of the Manager, Information Technology, act as engagement leader for Clinical Applications.
  • Seek out necessary training and certifications required as the foundation for establishing training and support programs for applications within the scope of the position, and in use within the hospital.
  • Work with consultants and the Regional Shared Service (RSS) teams engaged for hospital specific and regional information system initiatives.
  • Working with the Manager, Information Technology, assure that information systems remain consistent with industry standards, and meet organizational, regional, provincial and federal regulatory requirements. Examples include, but are not limited to, security and privacy.
  • Assist Information Technology in the development of annual focused Capital and Operating plans for the hospital.


  • College diploma in a related field and Registration in good standing with applicable Professional College
  • 3 years experience with Cerner Electronic Patient Care application.
  • Proven skills in software and hardware support.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proven effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to coach others.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships within team to contribute to a positive work life.

Other Pertinent Conditions

  • Must be available to work all shifts as required, which may include; weekends, stat holidays, day, evening and night shifts
  • Successful applicants will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check and meet Health Clearance requirements including full COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of the job offer.

  • Salary Range: $30.84 per hour - $36.06 per hour
